Three hundred and seventy nine trains per day, with 180,000 seats, 180 extra journeys, for a total of 1.5 million additional kilometres<\/strong>. These are the numbers revealed by Trenord\u2019s CEO, Cinzia Faris\u00e8, that relate to the plan with which regional transport is getting ready for Expo. \u201cEvery day, at least 40,000 people will choose the train to travel to the World Fair<\/strong>,\u201d Faris\u00e8 explained, \u201cand this is why we\u2019ve implemented an extraordinary plan that will also bring benefits for the ordinary service.\u201d<\/p>\n

The expansion will affect many lines of the regional service and will enable passengers to reach the Rho site from every town in Lombardy, \u201cwith a maximum of one change,\u201d with a widespread service that will bring one train through that station \u201cevery three minutes, like the underground<\/strong>.\u201d Click here<\/strong>, to read the complete plan of the extraordinary service for Expo.<\/p>\n

COMMUTERS<\/strong> \u2013 The new Trenord guide looked upon Expo \u201cas an opportunity to speed up the service, also for our commuters,\u201d and for this reason, \u201cwe\u2019ve reorganised the whole My Link Point at Cadorna Station; we\u2019ve redone the entrance of the railway link at Garibaldi Station, creating a genuine piazza, and we\u2019ve invested a lot on security.\u201d Indeed, on the one hand, an extraordinary plan against graffiti on trains has begun, and on the other, security on the carriages has been enhanced with dedicated staff constantly travelling on them<\/strong>. This has all been accompanied by the renewal of the fleet<\/strong>, by interventions to improve punctuality<\/strong> and by the launch of a new app. \u201cIn the next few days, the new service will enable passengers to monitor the progress of trains, receive information and purchase tickets and season tickets directly from their smartphones.\u201d<\/p>\n

THE REGION<\/strong> \u2013 This important investment included a substantial contribution from the Region. \u201cWithout out help,\u201d the President of Lombardy, Roberto Maroni, explained, \u201cnot only would the expansion not have taken place, but we would have had to cut services and increase ticket prices; it would have been chaos.\u201d However, in view of Expo, the Region\u2019s financial contribution has led Maroni to rejoice. \u201cWe came, willing to guarantee the maximum efficiency of our rail transport.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
