A great number of stories were received by the editorial office, <strong>many worthy of ending up in a film<\/strong>. It was the film itself that took over, so the choice fell increasingly on those <strong>stories where life played a powerful part<\/strong>. Because that is what <strong>Digitalife<\/strong> is about.\u201d This is what the director, <strong>Francesco Raganato<\/strong> (pictured left) said about the creative and organisational process that led to the creation of the docufilm <strong>produced by VareseNews, with RAI Cinema and the Foundation \u201cEnte dello Spettacolo\u201d<\/strong>. The film <strong><u>is being shown in Varese, on 23 January<\/u><\/strong>, at the Impero Cinema (<strong><u>get advance tickets here<\/u><\/strong>), and if go to the ticket counter and mention VareseNews, you can purchase the ticket at a reduced price.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Digitalife<\/strong> is about how the Internet and digital technology have changed our lives, and does so <strong>with 50 stories sent by people around the world<\/strong>, selected from hundreds of video contributions. \u201cIt was a challenge against the conventional language of documentaries, against standard production processes, against classic storytelling,\u201d Raganato went on. \u201cIt was a leap of faith and then an ascent. It was a team effort, that\u2019s how it was planned, and how it was made. <strong>It\u2019s a mosaic of life, a tale told by several voices<\/strong>, some in tune, some divergent, some safe, some uncertain. But all are sincere.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re stories that speak about life which has now changed, <strong>about life which has to come to terms with something that wasn\u2019t there before<\/strong>, that from now on, will always be there, digital technology,\u201d Raganato said. \u201cAlas, we\u2019ve all been affected by this change, and as the resilient beings we are, we\u2019re slowly adapting. Some succeed, some, less so, but each of us must now deal with <strong>this new form of existence<\/strong>. There are those who flee from digital technology, and go back to farming the land, and there are also those who, thanks to digital technology, decide to start farming the land. There are those who, in digital technology, find the incentive to react to diseases, to exorcise death and the lack of affection. There are those who try but don\u2019t succeed, and there are those who try, and do succeed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn this sea of attempts, opportunities, ideas, and stories about families, emotions and health, there is us, we\u2019re in it up to our necks, and we\u2019re learning to swim, <strong>still clumsy and imperfect, like the pictures that make up the film<\/strong>,\u201d Raganato went on. \u201cWhat emerges in Digitalife is the desire to tell a story, because, if it\u2019s true that digital technology enables us to connect up more easily, it\u2019s also true that this connection needs to be fed in order to remain strong. <strong>Otherwise, we\u2019re just a tiny red number on the notification icon<\/strong>.
