{"id":922317,"date":"2020-04-23T08:48:26","date_gmt":"2020-04-23T06:48:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.varesenews.it\/?p=922317"},"modified":"2020-04-23T08:48:26","modified_gmt":"2020-04-23T06:48:26","slug":"illustrating-and-changing-rodaris-endings-the-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.varesenews.it\/2020\/04\/illustrating-and-changing-rodaris-endings-the-challenge\/922317\/","title":{"rendered":"Illustrating and changing Rodari\u2019s endings: the challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Gavirate library\u2019s latest \u201cvirtual\u201d event is dedicated to children and teenagers and to the great poet, educator and writer of children\u2019s books, Gianni Rodari<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The starting point is one hundred years since the birth of Rodari (who was born in 1920) and the fact that the great man lived part of his youth right here, on the shores of Lake Varese.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn fact, <strong>two of his telephone tales are set right here, in Gavirate,\u201d the librarians point out. They are referring to <em><u>La donnina che contava gli starnuti<\/u><\/em> (The little girl who counted sneezes) and <em><u>A comprare la citt\u00e0 di Stoccolma<\/u><\/em> (The man who bought the city of Stockholm).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Starting with these, the children and teenagers have a double challenge: to read both tales (for those who do not have the book, <strong><u>the first is here<\/u><\/strong> and <strong><u>the second is here<\/u><\/strong>).\u00a0 \u201cThen, using all your imagination, you should <strong>try to illustrate them,\u201d the librarians suggest<\/strong>. \u201cAnd for anyone who wants to play, Rodari-style, we <strong>have another idea: try to imagine a different ending to these two stories<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is what Gianni Rodari did with many of the stories in his book entitled, not by chance, <em>Tante storie per giocare<\/em> (Many Stories for Playing). \u201cHave fun.
