Thirty-two countries in Whirlpool, to talk about Human Resources

The first of two days dedicated entirely to human resources began today, 11 May, 2010, at Whirlpool’s European Operating Centre, in Comerio, near Varese.
The 60 people taking part in this very unusual conference are Human Resource Managers in the 32 markets managed from Comerio, and they come from every corner of Europe, of the Middle East and of Africa. This event provides the multinational company with an opportunity to take stock of the situation, at a time when the economies of the European countries, which have still not recovered from the crisis, are once more going through a period of great tension.
The participants were welcomed by Adriano Mureddu, Whirlpool’s vice president for human resources for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, who began the proceedings with an introductory report. During the conference, all aspects concerning human resource management will be examined, with particular attention on looking for and managing new talent. In effect, even in times of crisis, Whirlpool is on the constant lookout for young graduates from the most prestigious European universities, to include them in their dedicated management programs. Last year, over 200 young graduates were taken on, a large number of whom are now working in European coordination positions based in Italy.
