The connection with Bahrain returns
Inaugurated in the Varese airport, the first flight of Gulf Air with a Middle East destination, the service starts with 4 flights a week. "No worries for the North African protests"
This morning, in the presence of representatives of Sea, the Varese Province, the Milan Province and representatives of Gulf Air, was inaugurated the new air link between Malpensa and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
After eight years, the Gulf Air airline returns, with four weekly flights, linking Varese with a strategic area of the Middle East.
It was the airline’s CEO, Samer Majali, that explained the double attempt to attract, with this new line, passengers from the business sector and tourism sector.
With a market of 36 million consumers in the Gulf States, a tax advantage, and as a gateway to the North African region,
Bahrain, thanks to Gulf Air, is about to offer new opportunities for business.
The North African upheavals didn’t find space in the press conference, but during the presentation, Ad Majali underlined that they didn’t fear consequences on that front:
"The real situation is very different from how it appears" the CEO explained about the news in recent days that have created concern from the opposition and the military intervention to stop the protests.
"These facts have resulted in a decrease in traffic" explained the head of the company "but it is mainly due to the perception of external danger, rather than the local reality that is completely under control."
The airline, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, will fly from today, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
