A8 and Pedemontana, linked by a 59 metre long bridge
The first section of the flyover on the Motorway of the Lakes was launched in the middle of the night, in the presence of the Regional President Formigoni, Bossi and Cattaneo. A visit was also made to the tunnel of Solbiate Olona, that has reached the length of 190 metres.
Shortly after midnight the Pedemontana flyover on the A8 was launched; the first of two 59 metre long beams that will link forever the world’s oldest motorway and the one that, once completed, will be the youngest in Italy.
The placement of the long steel beam was attended by the Regional President Roberto Formigoni, Umberto Bossi, the commissioner Raffaele Cattaneo and many mayors and local authorities. The many journalists were also accompanied on the site of the tunnel of Solbiate Olona, where the gallery excavation has arrived, now at 190 metres and it is close to the opening in the Valle Olona. The motorway will be closed also tomorrow night for the placement of the second section.
