Nicaraguan students are on line. Thanks to Varese
A new project involving young children and adolescents has been presented in Managua. Four Varese-based companies have realised it, together with Terre des Hommes.
The new project by Terre des Hommes in Nicaragua has its heart in Varese. The organisation’s activities, which involve over 4000 young children and adolescents, has expanded, with a new initiative. The protagonists of this project are the very young, and it is aimed at promoting primary education, thereby guaranteeing greater opportunities for growth.
The project is an Internet-based, communication “journey”, which has been made possible by a team of four companies, which all operate in Varese Province: Varesenews, as the coordinator of the project, Elmec for the hardware, Hagam for the website creation, and Whirlpool as the "technical sponsor". This group worked side by side with Terre des Hommes volunteers in Nicaragua, until completion. The editor of Varesenews, Marco Giovannelli, took part in the presentation press conference, which took place in Managua, on Monday 14 May 2012.
This project started out from blogs. Each group of young people will be provided with their own blog, where they can publish texts, photos and videos; it will be an opportunity to learn about computers, but also to publicise their activities throughout Nicaragua, and beyond. The project seeks to be an opportunity for exchanging with other schools and groups, so that children and adolescents from every country can get to know their young colleagues in Managua, albeit only on line, at first.
You can visit the website at www.tdhlife.com/nicaragua; it contains everything that is published in the eight activity blogs, and in the five project blogs. All of the articles are gathered into categories: culture, the rights of children, school and education, training, news, social promotion, entertainment and sport, health and the environment. Then, commenting on each article is permitted, allowing free partecipation. The blogs will be managed by the participants in each project, under the coordination of someone from Terre des Hommes.
