Minister opens new college
The Minister of University and Research was also present at the opening of Insubria University’s new college. With him, there were also the two Rectors, the incoming Alberto Porisini Coen, and the outgoing Renzo Dionigi.
Francesco Profumo, the Minister of University and Research, was also present today, 18 October 2012, at the opening of the university college in Insubria University.
The “Carlo Cattaneo” College, which cost €10 million, half of which was provided by the Ministry of Education, was inaugurated a little after 5 p.m. With the Minister and the two Rectors of Insubria, the outgoing Renzo Dionigi and the incoming Alberto Porisini Coen, the ceremony was attended by, among others, the ex-Minister of the Interior, Roberto Maroni, the Prefect Carlo Zanzi, the MP, Daniele Mantelli, the regional councillor, Raffaele Cattaneo, the Pro Rector of Insubria, Giorgio Conetti, and many of the lecturers that have been linked to the university since it was founded.
The rooms are modern, and designed for energy saving (a detail positively emphasized several times by the Minister) and to welcome not only students but also “visiting professors.” There are bathrooms with bathtubs, a gym, a Great Hall and several public areas, a room in which to play ping pong and table football. And it was this room, in particular, that was “tried out” by the authorities (from the Minister of University, to the outgoing Rector, from the ex Minister of the Interior, to the Prefect), who cut the ribbon.
“In the end, it is the Academy that won,” said Renzo Dionigi, as it was his team, of him and the Minister-Professor, who won at table football. But maybe the victory can be shared by Insubria University, which can now provide real accommodation for students away from home.
