The faces of half a century, as seen through Inge’s lenses

"The splendour of black and white, and the faces of the protagonists of the last century cannot fail to enchant." Francesca Boragno was excited when she opened the exhibition of photos by the press photographer, Inge Feltrinelli. This is a historical event for the gallery, because the photographer, who, as a young girl, would immortalise the people she met, will be the guest of honour on 9 November. And thus, the end of the exhibition will have an authentic witness of the cultural life of our country.

The gallery’s curator, Paola Riccardi, stressed that, "These photos are of immense, historical importance. Inge Feltrinelli was a press photographer, she was a beautiful girl, and with her outgoing nature, she was able to relate with so many people. She was very young when she fell in love with Giacomo Feltrinelli, and changed her life to become a publisher. She forgot about photography, and it was only in the year 2000, thanks to her son Carlo, that she opened the archives again, and the photography exhibition was born. For 10 years, we have brought it to all of the Feltrinelli bookshops. Last year, on the suggestion of Achille Mauri, we produced a new one, which can now be seen in Palazzo Cicogna. The people look relaxed, and this is thanks to the friendly relationship that Inge was able to create. Her great personality can be gleaned from the images she was able to take.”

Claudio Argentiero was also present at the opening. “This exhibition has been brought to a place of culture, and this is just one of the 32 venues around the country. It is a moment of discovery, which our group of enthusiasts is pleased to provide.”
