There are 13,000 textile companies in Lombardy

There are nearly 13,000 companies operating in the textile sector in Lombardy, the region that held the record in Italy, in 2012. In addition to the nearly 4500 textile companies, there are 8000 that manufacture articles of clothing. With 3548 companies (5.3% of the national total), Milan heads the table in Lombardy for the textile industry, followed by Varese, with 1920 companies (2.9%), Brescia, with 1702 (2.5%) and Como, with 1322 (2%). This is what has emerged from an analysis of the 2012 register of companies, by the Milan Chamber of Commerce.

The textile sector in Italy. There are 66,768 companies operating in the textile sector in Italy; of these, 49,108 manufacture articles of clothing, and 17,660 are textile companies. In one year, the provinces of Aosta, Poredenone and Benevento saw the most growth, with 15.9%, 6.6% and 1.6%, respectively. And with 6202, 3548 and 3364 companies, respectively, Prato, Milan and Naples are the provinces that are most active in this sector.
