The municipality co-finances the operation Villa Mylius

Palazzo Estense together with the Gualtiero Marchesi Foundation takes part in the Cariplo announcement. It will allocate € 500,000 but € 4.8 million are needed. Money will be distributed only in case of victory.

The operation Villa Mylius arrives to the point, the last chance, take it or leave it. On 15 November is set the deadline for the submission of an announcement of the Cariplo Foundation towards which special attention is given. The Marchesi Foundation and the municipality have decided to present a joint project, in which Palazzo Estense will guarantee € 500,000.

However, the overall aim is € 4 million and 600,000, also thanks to the grants of other corporations and the private contribution of the Gualtiero Marchesi Foundation, that will realize the Academy of Taste and others courses, exhibits and cultural conference in the mansion.

Actually, the municipal contribution will be a minority but above all it will be bound to the victory of the announcement. In fact, if it doesn’t arrive any financing, Palazzo Estense won’t distribute any grants. The Cariplo Foundation has € 7 million to spend for Varese and Como in the so-called emblematic projects. It is not clear what amount could come, even because the project will be motley. It is sure that only in case of achievement of a substantial financing it can be say that the target is hit.

The story of the mansion is known. The Foundation presented its project two years ago, but the government department rejected the restoration. Now the municipality and Gualtiero Marchesi try again but, seeing that they have to face higher costs, they are looking for new paths. Villa Mylius needs not only to be restored in compliant with legal standards, but it needs also a new auditorium, essential for the kind of cultural activities wanted by Marchesi.
