“L’obiettivo”: the journal of Varese students

Filippo and Giacomo explain about the website born to give voice to the life in the schools but also to allow the young to give their opinion on what concerns them.

The current students will be the centrepiece of the nation in the future. This sentence is often repeated, but people hardly ever stop to listen to their voice. People prefer to think them of closed in their world made of music, sport and play station, as if the transformation into "adult" was a sudden jump.

To overcome the several labels pinned on students, a group of youngsters from Varese have realized an on-line journal: "L’obiettivo"(The aim).

"The idea comes to me the past August" explains Filippo Salviato, " At 17-years-old, I wanted to do something more, something that would be useful for my community. Our life is at school? Then we should start to work to made this place closer to our expectations and interests. The model is the American campus. I’m sure that the Italian School is one of the best in the world for what concern the education and culture. But all the "social" part is missing.

As first step toward a school that is a meeting place where passion are nurture, Filippo thought to make a scholastic journal "I called my friend Giacomo and we immediately were in tune. So we proposed our idea to other friends that attend different schools and, almost a month ago, we published "L’obiettivo".

The original idea was a paper magazine but, because of bureaucratic hurdles, they opted for an information web site " Today we are very happy of this choice because it’s more flexible and allows us to extend and innovate."

The organisation of "L’obiettivo" sees: Giacomo and Filippo ( Liceo classico Cairoli) as managing directors, Michele Bertoni ( Liceo scientifico Ferraris) as news editor; Monica Lucioni person in charge of the editorial staff of the Liceo Manzoni; Laura Ballerio, Michele Bertoni and Nicolò Monica person in charge of editorial staff of the Liceo Ferraris, Federico Bossi person in charge of editorial staff  of the Liceo Cairoli and Matteo Resemini person in charge of the group of the Liceo Sacro Monte.

Culture, newness, lifestyle, sport, cinema, everything has its place on the website which gives prominence above all at the news of high school life: polls, institute council,  meetings.

Michele Bertoni reflects on the missing minute of silence in memory of the victims in Sardegna. Monica Lucioni dedicates an in-depth analysis to Nelson Mandela. Filippo Golonia reviews the film "The Hobbit", the latest film now at cinemas of The Lords of the Rings’ saga.

The section in which Giacomo and Filippo believe in most is "La tua voce" ("Your voice") where all the  students, of any school, can express freely.

So, with 2014, "L’obiettivo" will grown greeting other schools "we feel that there’s the itching to do but it has been too long since we have been still and let slipped away anything. We believed that, with the right incentives, we will be able to find again the will to give ourselves a challenge and become protagonists of our life, a life that we spend above all at school."

Therefore, there are in store some surprises: from a photography contest and a talent contest which will have selections in different schools and a final with a live event that promises sparks…

The preconditions are excellent and the young are determined to hit the mark.
