Marriot-IKEA low cost hotel officially opens
The budget design hotel is located at Terminal 2. Chosen by SEA for its innovative conception, it was designed in partnership with Vastint Holding B.V. of the IKEA Group.
The inauguration of the first Moxy Hotel in Europe took place at Malpensa Airport on Thursday, 30 October. Moxy, the brand of the Marriot International Group, is characterised by reasonably-priced rooms, with design furniture and hi-tech services. Since the quiet opening, in September, the new Marriot brand has combined the airport’s reception services, with a 3-star hotel, located at Terminal 2, opposite the airport’s car parks and the future railway station.
The innovative construction technology, the youthful and contemporary design, and the characteristics of the new brand are behind SEA’s choice, which, with this opening, makes the Moxy in Malpensa the first of the over 150 new openings planned in the next 10 years in the main European cities, such as Munich, Berlin, London, Frankfurt and Oslo. Thanks to the all-Italian, wooden, prefabricated, modular structure, the construction times were kept to less than 9 months and the building is distinguished by its high energy class, maximum soundproofing, and its comfort.
The Moxy in Malpensa is characterised by its design, style, art and technology which, with its natural materials, give it a youthful, fresh, simple and fun image. It has a modern and contemporary look, where the colours and shapes combine, with determination, in a refined, linear way. The 4-storey building welcomes its guests into a large common area, where they can relax, amuse themselves, and have something to eat or drink. The 162 double rooms contain furniture made of natural materials, with natural colours; all have an independent Wi-Fi connection, a 42-inch, flat-screen TV with AirPlay technology, which connects to any device, such as a smartphone or tablet. This highly-innovative concept was developed and launched by Marriot International (a world leader in its sector, with 4000 hotels in 79 countries around the world), in partnership with
Vastint Holding B.V. of the Property Division of IKEA Group.
