Poste Italiane: ” We’re ready to discuss, but the reductions remain”

After the suspension of the closings, the company specifies that the rationalization plan continues but starts talks with the territories: " We're aware of our social role, but a greater efficiency is necessary."

This is not a suspension of the project, but a remodulation and a comparison with the territory. It is an opening to a dialogue that comes from Poste Italiane after the suspension of the closing of the post offices predicted for next month. The company will go ahead with the plan of rationalization “after concluding the dialogue initiated with the Regions,” we read in a note, “for the detailed analysis of the territories, following the directions of the Ministry of Economic Development aimed at the participation of the local institutions.”

If on one hand “the territorial presence is a fundamental element of the industrial plan,” on the other hand a rationalization of the system is inevitable and will be carried out “through a meticulous analysis of the real needs of the country, in full compliance with the regulatory framework which guarantees the Universal Postal Union.” Poste Italiane claim to be “aware of the social and market role assigned to the office network” and for this reason “we’re committed to ensure extensiveness to our presence combining it with the need for an increasingly necessary efficiency to the population.” In other words Poste Italiane could save some offices in those areas where it is particularly difficult to reach them.”

Therefore, together with the Regional Institutions “we’ll deepen the theme of our territorial presence by continuing to inform the territories about the regulation within which we move with the aim to bring in the houses of the citizens new and useful services.” After this further comparison, “conciliating the company’s needs with the requests and the possible exceptions represented by the territories, we’ll realize the transformation of our company.”
