The Regional Building is looking for a name

Everything is ready for the opening of the new Regional Building. The only thing missing is a name, which will be decided with an online vote.

The large building complex of curved 9-storey buildings, and a 39-storey central tower with a height of over 160 metres, which has been built by the team led by the New York company Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, has been completed in via Melchiorre Gioia-Via Restelli. Three thousand people will be able to work in it, and there is a large covered square available to everyone.

As we were saying, there is a sort of online competition between 9 names, the best ones freely submitted on the Internet by 2750 people from Lombardy: “If, on 20 January, one name that has the highest number of votes, this will be the immediate winner,” says Roberto Formigoni, the President of the Region of Lombardy. “But if there’s a tie, a ballot will be held, from 22 to 31 January, to choose from the most popular names.”

On 31 December, the second and final phase of the online consultation began: anyone can choose from “Vele di Gioia”, “Foro dei Lombardi” and “Ca’ Longa”. Alternatively, “Altra Sede”, “Palazzo Lombardia” or “Torre di Cristallo”. Or even “Agorà”, “Porta dei Lombardi” or “Palazzo Caravaggio”.
