“Afraid and starved monkey stuck under a train”
The monkey spent the last hours of its escape, stuck under a railway carriage. The intervention of a veterinary, that soothed it before pulling it out of there, was necessary. In the meantime the animal’s owner has been discovered : the Bandera family.
The three days escape of the little monkey, that had been livening up Busto Arsizio for the whole weekend, finished on Monday around 6 pm. The last act of this story went on stage inside an area of the railway FS (Ferrovie dello Stato, State Railway), where the baboon had been noticed shortly before 4 pm. The rescue operations kicked off at once and its “by-products” caused the gradual arrest of the railway line in both directions (in the photograph, the last rescue phase can be seen, Ed).
So Firemen went on site in support of the provincial Police staff and of the State Forestry Corps officers for a new capture attempt.
The frightened and starved beast had been looking for a new shelter under the platform of a railway carriage, and had got stuck there. However, before proceeding in pulling out the animal, firemen had to wait for the arrival of the veterinary, able to soothe and appease the primate. So, the doctor of Varese, Reiner Schneider, specialized in this kind of intervention, arrived in the area of the ex Hupac rail yard.”I, myself, have fired some tranquilliser at it with a blowpipe” affirmed the veterinary, just before going to see the animal. However, the doctor denied the first gossip that had leaked out about an hypothetical accident against the little monkey. “There has been no accident and no crash at all, the animal has suffered no damage and it is well”, Schneider explains.
The adventure of the baboon that has been livening up the city since Saturday midday, after having escaped from the Bandera company in Corso Sempione, ends up thus, in the best possible way. It is the Bandera family, themselves, known in the region for having a lot of animals (exotic ones too), that reported the monkeys escape on Sunday, around 11 am, going inside the factory, where the fugitive had taken refuge.
The State Forestry Corps has been controlling for a long time the papers given to them by the boss of the family, who seems to have an authorization dated 1992. The forest rangers, themselves will consider the position of the family and an inspection inside Bandera’s “zoo” cannot be excluded.
