Arcisate – Stabio, the new contract has been given, in July the works restart

Perhaps we are ready. Rete Ferroviaria Italiana have awarded the new contract to complete the works involved in doubling the Arcisate – Stabio line. The contract was given today, Tuesday, 9th June, to SALCEF of Rome at the end of the new tender called by RFI to the negotiated procedure, as required by the current Code of Contracts, following the previous deserted tender.

 The Rete Ferroviaria Italian works continue with the reopening in July of the yards, at the conclusion of the verification of legal requirements for the final allocation of the work.

Confirmed the time schedule given at the end of 2014 to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the Lombardy Region and municipalities. The commercial activation of the new line is scheduled for December 2017.

For the new RFI tender, which the client operates in special industry, they have taken advantage of the system of qualification as undertakings for the execution of civil works. The amount placed in the tender, however, won as expected by the Disciplinary compared with a percentage discount offered, corresponded exactly to the costs of work still to do of the executive project for the doubling of the line in Italian territory Arcisate – Stabio, with the addition of work not included in the previous contract, for a total of about 82 million euro.

Marco Cavallin, the mayor of Induno Olona is satisfied: “We are pleased by this news,” he commented. “Because this will respect the schedule of works presented in December 2014. With this, a further key step was made. Many more, however, have yet to be done so we will go forward and monitor constantly and meticulously, until the steps that are missing are made to respect the time schedule, to recover the credibility of a work that has disappointed many people. We hope that in July works resume, including the mitigative works“.

“Finally the tender has been awarded, we hope that this is the right time.” Like this the councillor and regional secretary of the Pd Alessandro Alfieri commented straight after the announcement that Rete Ferroviaria Italiana have today awarded the new contract to complete the works involved in doubling the Arcisate – Stabio. “It is good news,” he added, “I think most of all to the local communities of Arcisate, Induno Olona and Valceresio that have endured for too long a huge inconvenience and disruption.”
